Kingsmill Resort, Williamsburg VA
May 16-18, 2007
Over the years we have worked hard to develop long-lasting
relationships with the professionals with whom we do business. In
order to further enhance these valuable relationships, we wanted to
bring a selection of these individuals together to meet on a regular
basis, take advantage of networking opportunities and provide Matrix
with a regular forum for dialogue with key advisors. Thus, we have
formed the Matrix Advisors Circle.
Our exclusive membership list includes a select group of like-minded
professionals who are all successful and well recognized leaders in
their respective industries.
On May 16-18, 2007, we welcomed over 70 guests to the second annual
Matrix Advisors Circle. Guests were treated to golf, tennis and a
variety of other activities, including food and lodging at the
Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, VA.
We kicked off the event with a Wednesday evening cocktail reception,
which was held on the Grand Ballroom Terrace overlooking the James
River. The following morning included a group breakfast and the
business portion of the program. The meeting began with guest
introductions and a Market Update by Rob Mason and Cedric Fortemps
with Matrix Capital. Speakers from three leading Private Equity
Groups made up our international panel discussion, including Shannon
Smith, of Blue Point Capital, Tom Bagley of Pfingsten Partners and
Rick Horowitz with RAF Industries. The topic of their discussion was
strategies for doing business in the China market. The panel
discussion was followed by a presentation on AIM - “The Alternative
Investment Market” by Nick Reeve with Smith & Williamson of London.
As a wrap up to the business portion, everyone enjoyed lunch as
Scott Rasmussen, CEO of Rasmussen Reports, a leading public opinion
polling firm, shared his witty insights on the current political
environment.
Thursday afternoon, guests enjoyed relaxing, playing tennis or a
challenging round of golf on the spectacular River Course. Cocktails
and dinner were served later that evening aboard Virginia’s Jewel,
for a sunset dinner cruise on the James River, and a tour of the
“Ghost Fleet”. The program wrapped up with a group breakfast on Friday
morning and a private tour of the historic Jamestown settlement, which
included a tour of the main facility and grounds, along with a personal
presentation by Bill Kelso, the head archeologist for the dig site.
We are so pleased that this event continues to be such a huge success.
We are already in planning stages for next year’s meeting, so please check
back for updates and call us to find out how you can be a part of this select group.
